In April 1996, my husband and I moved to New Bern, NC from the Bellefonte, PA and Penn State University area in central Pennsylvania. (Miss that Nittany Lion Football& those Steelers!)
Although my degrees and graduate work at Penn State were in Biochemistry of Nutrition and Metabolism, my first love has always been sewing and knitting. I have been designing and making clothing since I was about 10.
I try to design and make clothing that will fit the 'real women' in Sizes Small thru 3X.
Other than the SANGAM Clothing, I design and make all the other clothing on the website or in the shop - as well as doing custom orders. I am always happy to do custom decoration of Tee and Sweat Shirts-these make great gifts. My clothing is 'easy wear and easy care'. Everything is washable except for a rare item here and there.
I have won many awards for my designs, including being chosen as one of 12 National Finalists for a Runway Design Competition at the American Sewing Expo to be held in September 2009.
I am a member of ASDP -the Association of Sewing & Design Professionals; SAQA - Studio Art Quilt Assoc; AQS -American Quilt Society; ASG - American Sewing Guild.
I am especially known for my Award-Winning patchwork & embellished jackets and vests-which almost always are reversible. I also have made "A WEEKEND IN THE SACK" since 1994. This is a wash & dry man-made silk fabric that all mixes and matches to make many outfits and comes in a 14 X 16" Sack.
